The Project: “Otakon Online 2020 Commercial” (Otakorp, Inc)

The Challenge:

  • Film, edit, and deliver a 30 second commercial for Otakon Online, a live-stream event focused on Japanese pop-culture.

The Solution:

  • Filmed on location at Walter E Washington Convention Center.
  • Revised project goals and parameters following cancellation of original convention event due to nationwide pandemic.
  • Completed utilizing limited footage after planned filming schedule became impossible.
  • Delivered for use leading up to, and during one day live event.

The Project: “Otakon 2019 Commercial – Sakura” (Otakorp, Inc)

The Challenge:

  • Film, edit, and deliver a 30 second television commercial for Otakon 2019, a Japanese pop-culture fan convention.

The Solution:

  • Filmed on location at 2019 National Cherry Blossom festival in Washington, DC.
  • Incorporated archival footage of Otakon 2018.
  • Iterated multiple versions of commercial following input of marketing managers.
  • Delivered and uploaded to Comcast AdSpotlight platform earlier than proposed deadline.

The Project: “Campus Pantry” (class project)

The Challenge:

  • Create marketing materials for the University of Baltimore’s campus pantry.

The Solution:

  • Served as project lead, coordinating and managing design team to produce new logo, flyers, posters, campus newspaper ad, and social media calendar. View final presentation here.
  • Personally responsible for creating series of six 12 – 15 second short videos, utilizing short depth of field close-ups and logo animated in Adobe AfterEffects.

  • Film, edit, and deliver a 30 second television commercial for Otakon 2017, a Japanese pop-culture fan convention.

The Solution:

  • Worked with Otakorp, Inc leadership to plan and complete filming over course of four hour shoot with limited preparation and equipment.
  • Delivered and uploaded to Comcast AdSpotlight platform within deadline.

The Project: “Lil Kickers” (class project)

The Challenge:

  • Film a feature interview promotional video for the Coppermine Fieldhouse local business and their “Lil Kickers” youth soccer program.

The Solution:

The Project: “Walking My Beat” (class project)

The Challenge:

  • Create a non-fiction documentary style short film utilizing cinéma vérité film-making techniques.

The Solution:

  • Filmed throughout inner city Baltimore, Washington DC, and on location at the Smithsonian Museum of African-American History.
  • Recorded spoken word narration to mix with separate percussion audio track.
  • Edited new and archival footage in unique combinations to compare and contrast different ideas.

The Project: “Reflections” (class project)

The Challenge:

  • Explore methods of evoking emotion through visual language and cinematic techniques.

The Solution:

  • Utilized combination of footage with both subtle and overt editing effects to shape emotional theme.
